Large black hooves danced over the earth, carrying with them a gray stallion. His movements were practiced and easy, he'd been running forever. The sky over head was heavy with clouds and the sun shone a sickly, half light as the stars began to retreat. Nothing and everything was on the stallion's mind. It was almost as if his subconcious was always thinking, but his head was empty, as if he thoughts were merrily echoes bouncing off the walls of his mind. Images from his memories bounced around with these thoughts, along with words from the past and battles once lost and horses gone forever.
It wasn't until a while later that he saw the end of the plain. A steep drop-off ended his running. For the first time, in a long time, his legs ceased their movement. Below him was a paradise, and all he had to do was reach it. But how could he do that? The sides of this place held no slope and no hoof hold. Yet the water glimmered and shined, he had to taste it.
So he jumped.
As he landed, he felt the air fade from his lungs and all was dark within his head. He rested for the first time in many years.
He awoke with a start, the air filling his dying lungs. He was on warm sand, with the sun beating brightly on him. It glinted off of the water, sending rays in all directions. He stood, legs shaking slightly. I claim this lagoon. It is mine. It belongs to me, Vuoto. He roared loudly into the sky and onto the plain. After a few moments past, he moved slowly towards the water, dipping his head to take in the cool, clear liquid.
